Plague Inc. – iOS/Android Review

Indeed, the central premise of the game is simple, you are the virus itself, growing and responding to changing conditions with the objective to destroy all life as we know it. Through a series of mechanisms you evolve and adapt to varying conditions and attempts to curtail your progress by the international community Continue reading Plague Inc. – iOS/Android Review

‘Charming and Open’ with Adventure Rules

“I’ve been giving consideration to the agency gaming has on our morality and perceptions. We like to consider ourselves, learned creatures, people of rational thought and construct whose opinion is largely based on objective reasoning over subjective, emotional stimulus. To give weight and fair process in answering this question involves challenging ingrained opinions and rational thought on a subject matter, removing all hubris and ego from the discussion and arriving at a fair conclusion. ” Continue reading ‘Charming and Open’ with Adventure Rules

30 Day Challenge Day Twelve: Favourite video game (or video game series)?

“With broadband a relatively scarce commodity at that period of time removing the availability of cheap and quick disposable titles and a distinct lack of full games on release, I picked up that box like Charlie and his Wonka Bar and made my purchase.” Continue reading 30 Day Challenge Day Twelve: Favourite video game (or video game series)?

Sunshine Blogger Award

“I’ve tackled a few of these in the last six months, most recently around gaming when I tackled the Gamer Tag with a list of questions designed to reveal a little more about yourself from A Geek Girls Guide. This set of questions covers an intriguing range of topics and subjects I’ve discussed in some detail over the months and ones that I always enjoy writing about and challenging myself to answer from gaming music and art to more moralistic decisions. So without further delay, let’s get down to business and answer these questions as set by Kelly.” Continue reading Sunshine Blogger Award

Financial Incentive and Reward in Video Games: Part Two – Disposable Income

“Money and finance was in its infancy in Western gaming culture, a rudimentary approximation of capitalism with the notion of earned income and market economies competing for your wealth, but no market forces driving creative destruction or associatory evolution, in contrast in the East, Korea was evolving its approach to technology and finance, an impact that wouldn’t be felt for over a decade in our supposedly advanced and developed society.” Continue reading Financial Incentive and Reward in Video Games: Part Two – Disposable Income

The Gamer Tag – Tagged

“Sometimes its important to contemplate the more deeper and profound meanings of life’s existence, on other occasions it’s fun to just sit back and reflect on a hobby or pastime. Today is one such day and as such I felt intrigued to answer the Gamer Tag from A Geek Girl’s Guide having read the most recent contribution from The Hannie Corner on the topic and set out to reveal a little more about my personal gaming habits and hobbies. On reflection, some questions were a little easier to answer given the somewhat singular nature but others required a little delving into the subconscious to answer truthfully. Either way, an enjoyable few moments to reflect on some of my more enjoyable titles and releases and give a little insight into my own personal tastes.” Continue reading The Gamer Tag – Tagged

A Discussion on Freemium Gaming

“Freemium Gaming, the dirty little secret of the console connoisseur’s repertoire, a shameless exploitation of the worst aspects of a person’s character targeting the desire to succeed at a literal cost trapping the user within a un winning cycle of endless repetition. In their current iteration on occasion they are closer to licensed and themed gambling machines as opposed to their premium equivalency on the latest generation of consoles and dedicated gaming rigs” Continue reading A Discussion on Freemium Gaming

Love In The Open World

“With the traditional frivolities of Valentines upon us I’ve taken it upon myself to look at some basic actions and mechanics open world games, the most resplendent environments available to the discerning gamer in our current generation can undertake in their future endeavours.” Continue reading Love In The Open World

Most Anticipated Games of 2019

“Why exactly am I anticipating Ritual of the Night…? Well it’s a new metroidvania-style game from Koji Igarashi, the maker of numerous classic Castlevania games. In fact it’s basically a new Castlevania in everything but name, which naturally makes it right up my alley. The move to 3D environments and characters is a bit of a shame (since I loved the 2D sprite-work of the older games) but other than that things seem to be coming together nicely. Bloodstained is coming from a great pedigree and the game has been in development for a very long time now so I’m cautiously optimistic.” Continue reading Most Anticipated Games of 2019
