Embracing the Collection

“Last year I undertook a personal challenge, a simple premise, complete a single game from my backlog on a monthly basis and try and experience some of these titles gathering real or virtual dust in my various collections. In itself a noble endeavour but ultimately based on the premise of the collection itself being a negative state of affairs, a failure on my part as a gamer. Perhaps I thought accomplishing this challenge would validate my reasoning, allow me to debate or discuss from a position of moral authority, who can say, but it was a largely positive experience providing some lasting memories.” Continue reading Embracing the Collection

Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Remastered) – PS4 Review

“For me, Ghostbusters was never a perfect film, it always felt a little rough around the edges and somewhat stitched together to create a functional, memorable movie of the ages. The Outer Worlds Review

“It feels very much like a homage to the work of Bethesda and Bioware, taking the best elements of each studio to create a new franchise that whilst not pushing the bar creatively to far outside its comfort zone is still an accomplishment in itself” Continue reading The Outer Worlds Review

Visiting the Pokemon Centre, London

“The temptation to spend beyond your means, especially after such a long wait was of course a tempting prospect and for the sake of clarity and disclosure, I’ve openly admitted and talked about planning in visits to Nintendo World on any trip to New York for their vast quantities of merchandise available so I won’t hold myself to any virtuous levels” Continue reading Visiting the Pokemon Centre, London

Mafia 3 Review

“Race plays a central role in this title but it would be a disservice to present or paint this as a game entirely devoted to tackling or being a representation of racism alone, to hold as the pinnacle measure of this issue” Continue reading Mafia 3 Review

12 Months, 12 Games: September – Never Alone

“We live in a world where so often when we come together our communal exchanges are formed around sharing stories amongst each other, factual accounts of our recent history for example, to use this mechanic in a gaming structure was a novel and pleasing change from the usual artificially contrived perils and menace encountered typically in video games.” Continue reading 12 Months, 12 Games: September – Never Alone
